The Rules of Casino War

Casino War, or ‘Bataille Royale’ in French, is without a doubt the easiest card game to play in land based and online casinos. It’s the type of game you would have played through summer with your friends, simple yet fun enough to pass the time. In Casino War both the player and the casino draw a card and the one who has the card with the highest value wins the round.

This is why Casino War is probably the simplest card game in the world. All you do is place your bet, and then the dealer will deal one card to each player as well as to himself. If the value of the card held by one of the players is greater than that of the dealer, then that player wins. If the dealer’s card is higher than the players, then the player loses. In the event of a tie you can either agree to split the pot or enter into ‘battle’ against your opponent. This becomes a ‘double or quits’ scenario so first you would double your initial bet, then two new cards are drawn and it’s the same as before, the player with the highest card wins the whole pot.

Casino war in 4 easy steps

1The game of Casino War is played with six decks of cards. The rank of the cards is the same as in Poker, except that the Ace is always the highest card.
2After placing your bet, you receive a card. Next, the dealer of the casino also receives a card. Your card is then compared to that of the dealer and if it's higher than yours, you lose. If yours is higher, you win. If there’s a tie then you enter into battle.
3If you decide to do battle, you have to make a ‘double or quits’ bet. Next, the dealer burns three cards and gives one card to the player and one to himself. If your second card has the same value or is higher than that of the dealer, you win even money on your bet, both on your initial bet and your battle wager. If the second card of the dealer is higher than yours, then unfortunately you lose the two bets.
4Apart from the ordinary bet in Casino War, you can also place a tie bet. This bet usually gives you odds of 10 to 1 and works as a side bet. Above the box where you ordinarily place your bet, there is an additional box where you can place this bet on the probability of hitting a tie.

Strategies in Casino War

In most cases the ‘battle’ will always be the best option in the case of a tie. At this point the house edge is less than 1% if you opt to go into ‘battle’. Keep this in mind also, you should never bet everything you have on single hands in casino war. You always need to keep enough money aside for battle situations.
