As we reported in our Global Gaming Expo Preview at the end of September 2015, the internationally renowned gambling convention held in Las Vegas Nevada was to feature the award ceremony for the 2015 Global Gaming Awards. Previous year’s ceremonies have been a resounding success for all involved and this year promised a star studded event, with all the big guns out for blood and recognition for all their hard fought effort during the past operational year.
A battle for gaming supremacy“The land based operators really impressed the independent judges by demonstrating a genuine commitment to customer engagement and experience” (MGM Resorts International)
This year’s event witnessed some of the biggest names in the industry battling it out for a chance to win one of the coveted Global Gaming Gongs. Twelve awards were handed out this year and among the winners we saw industry giants NetEnt walk away with ‘Digital Industry Supplier of the Year’, an accolade they so readily deserved this year after a slew of amazing game releases. We also saw Bet365 scoop the ‘Digital Operator of the Year’ award as recognition of their domination of the ‘in-play’ betting sector. Other notable mentions include Scientific Games who won two awards and were also runners up for another two awards on the night.
The ‘heaviest hitters on the night award’ goes to…
The company MGM Resorts International was the big winner of the night, scooping no less than 3 awards. They took the top spots in 2015 for ‘Land Based Operator of the Year’, ‘Customer Loyalty Program of the Year’ and also ‘Responsible Business of the Year’. The land based operators really impressed the independent judges by demonstrating a genuine commitment to customer engagement and experience as well as a steady growth which produced a 65 percent increase in net income after the first quarter of 2015.
As another year passes by we saw plenty of highs and lows in the industry, but this ceremony was definitely one of the high points. This was a great edition of the awards and all the nominees and winners worked hard to earn a spot for contention this year. As we look forward to the coming year and all it has to offer, we predict that next year’s nominees will all be innovators in their own right, but the winners will be those who are able to fully engage clients via new and existing channels, with some excellent new products and industry changing service provision.
