|What’s Hot||What’s Not|
A brave few take on the task of creating a slot game using the theme of a people that were nearly eradicated from the pages of history – Oh look, Thunderkick has come to bring us their version called Turning Totems. Nearly all games based on this theme are designed with real detail and take a more ‘serious’ approach to the subject, but it would appear that Thunderkick wanted to bring in something more dynamic and yet light to their game, and left the dreamcatchers and wolves for other developers, like WMS, with their Buffalo Spirit and Buffalo Thunder slot games.
The slot game plays in a canyon, with a Native Indian boy standing to the left of the totems. Immediately we can see the 3D rendering to make the character, so here’s hoping a little action might play out.
The grid is a 3x5 setting and the ‘symbols’ are a mish-mash of various faces. Now, this in not your conventional slot game, Thunderkick are a developer with not too many games, but they try to add a dash of genius into each one to set them apart. Here the totems spin around to display a new face, the effect is good and fluid, from time to time they will wobble and move, impatiently awaiting your next ‘spin’.
The game comes with 11 pay lines, the RTP sits at 96.1% and carries a betting stake from 0.10 up to 100, so you’d be in for a very profitable return should you use your stakes wisely.
Turning Totems is a win two ways game also, meaning that winning selections also go from the right side of the slot, as well as the standard left.
Bonuses and Rewards
The game boasts some features, one is called the Sleeping Wild, and this symbol takes the form of the eagle head, activated by a Thunder Reel, what’s a Thunder Reel you ask? Randomly landing upon a reel, this golden illuminated marker transforms the basic reel into what is called the Thunder Reel, all Sleeping Wilds on said reel will awake to become active, adding to this it allows for a respin of the totem to be granted.
Turning Totems does have a bonus game, triggered by 3 Thunder Reels, the round will consist of 5 free spins, during which the Thunder Reel remain in place till the round is complete.
The game is cute, the animation plays out with dancing from the small boy during a big win line, rain falls, during the anticipation of a bonus round and it’s all very sweet. The gameplay is simple and the rotation of the totems is a very good. It’s a different game, the kind you’d expect from Thunderkick, it’s by no means their best game, but it’s far from being their worst.
Should you wish to experience the game for yourself, head on over to either Kaboo, Casumo, Royal Panda or Mr Green, to name a few and see if you can win a healthy sum.
